THIS FEBRUARY THE ERASMIAN EUROPEAN YOUTH PARLAMENT WILL TAKE PLACE IN GIRONA
General Project Information
The program starts on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017, at 1:00 PM; all delegations should
be present by then if possible. The program ends Monday morning, February 27th, 2017.
Participants

The EEYP aims at 16-18 year old students from approximately fifteen different European
countries. Participating schools are invited to send a delegation of seven students and one
teacher/group leader. The students must be interested in issues related to major European
cities, must have an advanced knowledge of English and must be able to contribute to the
group process and to speak in public.
Project content
Like the European Parliament, the students will research actual European issues and
formulate proposals for realistic solutions. The EEYP asks the students to focus their
research on common ‘major city problems’, which will be chosen by the students themselves,
within the main theme as described in the Subject Introduction Booklet 2017. During the
project the students will work in international teams, the ‘committees’, and introduce and
defend their ‘resolutions’ at the end of the week. The whole package of resolutions will be
officially presented in the form of a Resolution Booklet 2017 to the local government, a
European politician and to representatives of youth organisations. During the week the
students will meet politicians and ‘captains of industry’ to share each other’s points of view.
Responsibilities and liabilities of the accompanying teachers
The project can only be successful if all accompanying teachers/group leaders contribute to
the program. During the project they will be responsible for their own delegation and the
group as a hole. This refers to the students’ behaviour, especially during their ‘free time’, but
also to the students’ obligatory attendance at the different locations and to their teamwork in
the committee. The preparations for the project and the travelling to Spain are also part of
their responsibility. The teachers are obliged to attend the dinners, and all other parts of the
program except for the work in the committees.
Preparations
It is intended that the student seeks contact with a professional in their home country, a
‘dynamic partner’, before the start of the EEYP. This professional can inform the student
about current ‘city problems’, which will help the student when discussing with his
committee members what issue will be interesting for the resolution of their committee. It is
also intended that the student read the preparation booklet thoroughly and that the student
starts the brainstorming process with his/her committee members via the Internet.
